Guys, this is very easy. It doesn’t matter if I’m falling down drunk, it doesn’t matter if I’m wearing a short skirt. Nothing I do with my body, whether it be getting intoxicated or dressing in what is considered a more “revealing” manner, should replace the words, “yes, I’d like to have sex with you” coming out of my mouth. Or negate the word “No.” If it’s not consensual, it’s rape, no matter how drunk/drugged someone is, or what they are wearing. And if you make any statement saying “Oh, if people drank less, they wouldn’t get raped,” well, sorry to say, you’re a rape apologist and you’re just contributing to rape culture. We need to stop teaching “don’t get raped” and teach simply “don’t rape.” Or, my favorite phrase, “Consent is sexy.”

And the amount of unfounded rape accusations (which includes false accusations as well as cases where the police could not find enough evidence, etc) is around 8-10%. I don’t know how to explain this any clearer to folks. People who genuinely consented to sex do not later think, ‘hey, maybe I shouldn’t have consented, I think I’ll claim rape.’ And the difference between two moods such as happy and sad (unless we’re talking about a psych condition), is not the same thing as being under the influence of alcohol, which alters your perception and function.
